That's it. McLaren has done it.

Okay. So, a lightly optioned 911 Turbo S is 180k, and if that is where the 570S starts, that is major trouble. Porsche can't bump the turbo in a way to match that unless they come out with a GT2RS of some sort. Even then, they would have to try to undercut them on price. They can't make the 911 a carbon tubbed car. At least not in this generation. This is what will break McLaren in. Why buy a turbo, when you can buy a McLaren? The entry level supercar game is getting interesting.

I bet the McLaren has more power, and it's probably a better car as well. But Porsche's got the 911 Targa 4 GTS, and if I'm honest, I'd buy the Porsche.

430 HP, 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds, topspeed 300 km/h..

911's no matter what format... turbo, turbo s, gt3, gt3rs, are all purchased for a practicality that just does not come with any mid engined "supercar."

its not quite an apples-oranges situation, but the p-cars will always have a something above the maclarens with regard to sales expectation.

especially turbos and turbo s's. they're daily drivers. not supercar garage queens.

It has more storage space than the 911, and unless you count the useless back seats in the porsche, the same amount of passenger room.

the useless back seats in the porsche are far from useless.

in fact, i believe they are what nearly every car should have. two seats, large enough to carry 2 reasonable sized adults (you can pass on the french fries americans) a short distance <60 minutes, when necessary, but not designed to carry 2 humans that are realistically never going to be there. so they're there if you need them, but the rest of the experience is designed around the driver. (also perfect size for car seats for the young families around)

ive even smashed 3 adult humans back there for one dash across manhattan.

while they may say the maclaren has more storage in brochures, i doubt this practically. never going to get 5 humans in the maclaren.

for straight up stuff: ive carried 3 weeks worth of gear for myself and lady friend in mine. also... carried a set of winter wheels and tires: 2 in the rear seat area, 1 in the front seat, one in the frunk. i highly doubt the maclaren will accommodate that.

also: rear engine over rear wheels + blizzaks + german alpine engineering = winter car. turbos even have the all wheel drive. but i say stay with the rwd models for increased frunk space.

the 911 is a more practical car than any of the maclarens. period. therefore, its difficult to compare them head to head.

while i drive a 911 as my daily (in the winter), i know three individuals with many many many more assets and resources than i, who could easily purchase any automobile they desired, they each have mid engined supercars for weekend sporting, but 1 drives a turbo and the other 2 drive turbo s's as their daily drivers.
